Montessori Inspired Applications

I am very happy to share some wonderful I -Pad applications that are Montessori based.  I have been using and recommending these apps for quite some time now and they are truly a great extension to help your children build on concepts and skills being acquired at school.  We hope you enjoy them.

SELECT AN IMAGE

In both sections, there are a number of phonetically correct illustrations to choose from to practice writing. Did you know that writing comes before reading in Montessori?

With two unique modes, the moveable alphabet and the storyboard, you can practice writing and reading, creating your own stories with fun and engaging illustrations

PRACTICE SPELLING

While spelling is not important at this period of development, there is an opportunity to practice!

WRITE A STORY WITH IMAGES

The storyboard is a place where ideas come alive. Use as many images as you'd like to create your very own story. You can add letters if you want, or just write with images!
Intro to Letters includes a very special feature, a section that allows your child to learn sounds, phonograms and names. There's nothing quite like hearing your own voice. Try it out!

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

If you child wants to trace on a specific letter or phonogram, a practice mode is included that allows them to choose what they would like to work on.

PHONOGRAMS

In addition to the letters of the alphabet, your child will also learn their phonograms (letter combinations) while tracing their sounds with gentle and soothing demonstrations.
Intro to Geography: North America includes a section that allows everyone to learn the flags of the countries of North America. Tapping through the various flags of each country, we come to identify their unique, colorful characteristics.

The purpose of this activity is to locate the shape of the country, based on the name. We'll then locate it on the map!

Above all else, Montessori offers children the freedom and independence to learn. Intro to Math captures that spirit, with enthusiasm!

Helpful hints guide your child as they work their way through the activities. This supports their independence and their self-esteem.

The app includes the famous 'control of error' method, which helps your child understand when they have done the activity the correct way, without telling them they are wrong.

The entire app can be navigated without reading. Elements are represented visually so they can be recognized by pre-readers.

Your child learns the shapes of the numbers, and through tracing, writes them into muscle memory.

Each of the activities feels like a little puzzle, complete with gentle voice narration, smooth animations, and clean graphic design—sophisticated enough to feel suited to both the Apple and Montessori brands.”
